Fate

1996 - Developed by DogBone Software; Produced by Intracorp Entertainment

Introduction

Fate would certainly have been one of the better games from Intracorp Entertainment, who were infamous for their poor first-person shooters distributed under the “Capstone” label. The game was advertised as a “ground-breaking first person action game using the ‘BUILD’ engine from 3D REALMS, with exclusive enhancements”. It was to have role-playing aspects as a major focus of the game, more than just gathering items and solving puzzles. One feature, for example, allowed the player to combine items to create more powerful weapons, keys, and other useful objects.

A demo version with four playable maps was released in late October of 1996; the game was probably almost finished at that time. Unfortunately, Intracorp Entertainment went bankrupt a few weeks later and had to close its doors. That was also the end for Fate.

it has a nasty habit of fixing it so you cannot
